The Auckland Down Syndrome Association employs three part-time staff:
- Christel van Baalen – Community Liaison Officer
- Deanne Douglas – Social Media & Library Officer
- Sarah Jones – Office Assistant
Christel van Baalen
Christel is the Community Liaison Officer at the Auckland Down Syndrome Association. She has been involved with the Association since 2002 firstly as a committee member, newsletter editor and then president. Christel has been the community liaison officer since 2007.
Christel currently lives in Mangatawhiri with her partner of 24 years, Anthony, and their daughter, Renee (16). Renee has Down syndrome. Christel is originally from The Netherlands but has been living in New Zealand since 1991.

Deanne is the Social Media & Library Officer at the ADSA. After a number of years at home as a full time mother taking care of her daughter Macey and son Edward, Deanne is enjoying being back in the workforce and putting her creative skills to use. Prior to having children, Deanne worked for The University of Auckland for ten years as a Print & Web Designer.
In her spare time Deanne enjoys playing the ukulele, surfing and mountain biking; and she has an addiction to cookbooks.
Sarah is 28 years old, her birthday is in May, and Sarah has been employed by the Auckland Down Syndrome Association since 2014.
Sarah helps in the office one day a week, normally on a Wednesday. She is also one of STRIVE members, a group of young people who have Down syndrome and who are self advocates. Sarah likes to swim, go the gym and hang out with her friends.
