Item Description

Jolly Phonics is a phonics programme that teaches the letter sounds in a fun and multi-sensory style that has proven to be fast and effective. Even children who cannot verbally produce a correct sound can be rewarded by showing their knowledge through doing the action. In Jolly Phonics the 42 main sounds of English are taught, not just the letters of the alphabet. Each sound has an action that helps remember the letter/sound that represents it. As the child becomes more confident the actions are no longer necessary. Children first learn each letter by its sound rather than its name. The letters are not introduced in alphabetical order. The first stage (s,a,t,i,p,n) have been selected because they make many simple three-letter words. This is stage1 of 7.
