Teaching Reading Part A

Section A provides an overview of the characteristics of the student with Down syndrome that influence the development of Literacy skills. Section B provides an overview of the research about teaching reading and writing skills to the student with Down syndrome. This includes information about medical issues, language cognitive development and learning styles. Section C discusses the use of total communication (signing, reading, language) to develop literacy skills.
